Vrs for the week

James1;5

But if any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all generously and without reproach, and it will be given to him

First Apple Picking of the Season

Today we went across the street and picked apples.  Our neighbor has three apple trees and there was two green ones and one red one. She said there were too many apples for her to eat (and make applesauce with) so she said “You can pick some.”

They looked good. Before we eat them we have to scrub them and check for worms. They tasted good. We are going to make applesauce!

Golden Birthday!

Today I turned nine! Daddy bought me some flowers.

Oma and Opa came in the night to eat dinner with us. I picked macaroni and cheese (with shell noodles) and ham. We had strawberry Pink Princess Cake and strawberry ice cream and fresh strawberries! Yummm!

I had a good birthday.

P.S. Oma called it my “Golden  Birthday” because I turned 9 on 9/9! Just for fun, Momma took the picture on the left at 9:09.

Answered Prayer

On my new scooter

I wanted a scooter. When I was at the Sellers I practiced on one and liked it. I wanted a scooter after that.

Yesterday while we were going to Science Sleuths, there was this big sign saying “Free”. There were two scooters; one three wheeler and one two wheeler.  The two wheeler had blue duct tape, the other one is all fixed okay and it has spider man. But Momma said “it’s okay”. It is smaller so Adrian can ride easy.

There were two chairs. One had hearts and the other didn’t. Momma told us we could pick them up if we wanted them. So we went and got them. Daddy said they are nice oak chairs.

Hooray! God answered our prayers by making our scooters free! It was a nice surprise.

Beaver’s Tails

Stir yeastToday we went to the fair. We ate cotton candy. We ate ham sandwiches, and curly potatoes. We wanted Elephant Ears, but were not very hungry for them. When we came home we rested. We made the dough and then went to the store.  Then we made Beaver’s Tails. (Momma found the recipe on line)

We wanted something new.  We wanted something fair like. We read that they eat Beaver’s Tails in Canada where Daddy is. We thought they sounded like the best thing to make. Here is the recipe that we cut in half because they make too many. You will be sick because you eat too many!Stir

For 18 Beaver’s Tails
1/2 tablespoon white sugar
1/4 cup warm water (110 degrees F)
1/2 tablespoon active dry yeast
2 tablespoon softened butter
1 cup plus 6 tablespoon warm water (110 degrees F)
1/2 teaspoon salt, we omitted
2 tablespoons white sugar
Let rise2 1/2 to 3 1/2 cups flour (We used 1 cup soft whole wheat and the rest unbleached all purposed flour)
Canola oil for frying
Cinnamon sugar mix for topping if desired
Nutella for topping if desired

Dissolve 1/2 tablespoon sugar and the yeast in 1/4 cup warm water. Set aside until foamy. Add butter, remaining water, salt and sugar.
Gradually mix in flour and knead to form a soft nice dough.
roll outPlace the dough in a greased bowl, and turn to coat. Cover with a damp towel, and place in a warm place and let rise until doubled.
Form the dough into balls about the size of eggs, then roll flat to make beaver tail shapes about 1/4 inch thick. Heat the oil between 350 to 385° F in a deep fryer.
Have Momma fry the dough while the kids roll the dough out.
Fry the beaver tails one at a time, until light brown on both sides. Place on paper towels to drain. Sprinkle with white sugar, cinnamon, and lemon juice (we forgot to try) while still Eathot.
Or use spread Nutella on top.

Eat and enjoy!

Exploring 4-H

CatsFor Exploring 4-H this year, I am doing a poster on my collection. This is what it looks like. Have fun looking for it at the fair!

I had fun making the poster. The hardest part was doing the paragraph. I did my best though!

Maybe I will see you at the fair!

Petting Zoo at Creation Museum

Petting camelWe went on vacation. After we went to Uncle Joe’s we spent the night at a hotel. Then the next morning we went to the Creation Museum.I liked the museum. If you can go, I think you should. There was Noah and you could ask him questions and he would answer it because it was on this computer. You should go in the kids cave because it had something different. They had these light up things that taught us something. If you want to see pictures of when we went last time with Oma and Opa, they are here.

We went to the petting zoo while Mark and Daddy was at a science program. Then after Mark and Daddy finished the program we went to the petting zoo with them.
