Mariposas a Mexico

MakingYesterday we made butterflies. We are mailing them to Mexico like real Monarchs. (Momma calls it Symobolic Migration). Different children will look at them in their classroom. In the spring they are coming back like real Monarchs. I will maybe get a different one back. Some friends made some too. Guess which one is mine!  finished

Puzzles

PuzzleAdrian likes puzzles.  Yesterday he made some puzzles–100 piece puzzles (the ones for 5 year olds and up)!  He likes them.  He did them all by himself.  I like puzzles too!

If you see a 100 piece puzzle of Tigger or of puppy dogs, he want some more please.

Making Elephant Ears

At the fair, we wanted Elephant Ears.  We asked Momma for some Elephant Ears and she said, “We can make Elephant Ears at home.”

Then we asked Daddy for some Cotton Candy. He looked at one store and it was too high a price. Then we walked through the horses and Daddy met us at the corner that turned into the gate and he had a big package of Cotton Candy. We ate it in the car.It was good.

I like to make the Elephant Ears.  It is fun.

Here is the recipe we tried.  Adrian says, “It is good!”  Mark says, “Maybe if we added a little bit more sugar.” Audrey said, “I liked my ducky Elephant Ear.” (Her’s looked like a duck.) Momma said, “It is not quite right, maybe add half the salt-we omitted it- and a little more sugar. Some recipes say to brush the hot “ear” with butter before adding the cinnamon sugar. We will have to experiment.”  Daddy said, “No” when I asked if he liked his Elephant Ear 🙂 .

Elephant Ear Recipe

  • 1 1/2 cups milk
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 Tablespoons sugar
  •  3/8 cup butter
  • 1 Tablespoon yeast
  • 4 cups flour
  • Oil for deep frying
  •  Powdered Sugar or cinnamon Sugar
  1. Combine milk, salt, sugar and butter. Heat until shortening melts and sugar dissolves.  Remove from heat and cool until you can put your finger in it comfortably (or 110 degrees if you use a thermometer). Sprinkle in yeast and let sit until foamy.
  2. Stir in flour to make a dough. Knead until smooth, cover and let rise 30 minutes.
  3. Heat one inch of oil in a large heavy skillet to 375 degrees.
  4. Roll out balls of dough into thin sheets. Put it in a pot with hot Canola oil.  Fry “ears” 1 to 2 minutes per side until puffed and golden.  Drain on paper towels.
  5. Put sugar and cinnamon in a bowl and then you put it on the elephant ears.  Then you eat them after they cool down.

Toads!

Four days ago we found one toad.  The next day we found another toad.  Then the next day we found another toad!  Them live under the porch.

Adrian’s toad’s name is Nothing.  Audrey’s toad is Explore.  My toad’s name is Explorer.  We play with them everyday when we get to go outside.  We go under the porch and play with them.  When we found the toad that we found last, Momma asked if there were three toads down there.  I said yes.  Momma giggled.  Then she took pictures of me holding the three toads.

We are going to find more toads!  I want at least four living under our porch!  Mark wants one.

Mark has written a new post.  If you have not read it yet, get it here!

Memorial Day Weekend

i had a fun weekend we went to the sellers house i love the sellers

(This was written by Andrea with a little help from Mark).

The first day we picked up sticks  and played at the pond.  We canoed and slide down the water slide and jumped off the trampoline.  We rode a pony the second day. The third day we ate breakfast, went to a Memorial day parade and then after lunch we went home.  It was a good weekend!

Birthday Cookie Experiment

It’s Grandpa’s birthday.

We are making cookies because it is Grandpa’s birthday today.  I want to share them.  If you want one, come over and say “Happy Birthday to Grandpa”, you will get a cookie, even though Grandpa is not here.

They are Cowgirl Cookies.  There is chocolate chips, raisins, cranberries, oatmeal, and butter in them.  I am going to put half of them with nuts and half of them without walnuts.

The first batch is in the oven.  You can start coming whenever until 6:30 tonight.  Tomorrow you can come after 9:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. because we have church.

My experiment is to see how many people come.  I think at least, about, maybe four people will come.  I want at least 10 people to come.

Happy Birthday Grandpa!

Friends over!

Tori and Shaely came over today.  They are my friends.

Tori and I was playing dress up.  We were pretending to be Momma’s.  Tori was the one with orange hat.  I was the one with the blue hat.

We played “Tag your it”.  And we played on the swings.   We climbed trees in the front.

We played clown with Shaely and Mark.

We had lots of fun!  I want them to come over again.

snow

today   we    had snow!  (I wrote this by myself!)

Now Momma is helping me.

Last night, it snowed.  It looked different because we hadn’t had snow in awhile.  It was pretty!

I looked out the window and I saw snow.  It was packing snow!  We made snowmen and a snow horse.  We had fun.

We played outside before school.  We got hot chocolate!  I did my math.  I am learning how to do fractions.  We are having chicken tomato soup with fishy crackers and carrots for lunch.

Andrea (I wrote this too!)

Going to a water park

On Monday we went to a water park.   It was very fun!  My cousins invited all of us.

It was called the Kalihari.  It had a water park inside and a hotel.

In the water park, one of the hot tubs went outside!  There was a wavepool that had waves.  There was a buzzing sound and the waves came.  There was a water tunnel.  It was tube and you went down on a inner tube. There was a one person and two person inner tube.  There was a water coaster and “Boogy boarding”.

A big bucket with an elephant on it would fill up.  It was on top of a building.  Then it tipped over on you.  It felt like bees stinging you.

There was one called Lazy River.  You floated around on inner tubes. There was a tunnel and there was pictures painted on the wall.  I could touch the bottom.  I ran into every waterfall.

I don’t know what my favorite  thing was.

We had fun and we came home on Tuesday night.

We ate all of the sandwich that Daddy bought for us.  All the kids had one big sandwich and we ate it all.  We told Daddy to go back inside and then we ate another one.  Daddy came out again and we said we need another one and Daddy went inside and got one for Momma and Daddy.

Then we went home.  I ran downstairs and hugged all my teddys then changed into pajamas, brushed my teeth and went to bed!

This is Adrain talking on my blog.   I slide down on the slide and big bubbles!  Played in the little bubbles.  I stand on hot tub.  I floated on hot tub.  I had fun watching Daddy.
