I had a indoor soccer game on Valentine’s Day. I wanted to make something special for my team. So we made pink popcorn! It was easy! Momma told me that she had a pink popcorn recipe I make by myself.
Here it is.
Make one large batch of unsalted plain popcorn. You need 10 cups, or more if you like it not so pink. 1/2 cup of butter (Feel free to use less, Momma has a recipe that uses only 2 tablespoons, but we like this one better)
1/4 cup sugar
1/4 cup light corn syrup
1 package (3oz) jello, I chose raspberry for pink.
1/4 tsp baking soda
First pop the popcorn. You could probably make microwave, but I made it on the stove. Put popcorn in cookie sheet with sides. A parchment covered pan is helpful but not needed. Take out all the unpopped seeds! Melt butter, sugar, corn syrup and jello on medium heat in a medium pan. Stir until it boils, try not to get it up the sides. When it boils, take off the heat. Then put baking soda in. It boils up! Recruit help to stir or pour on the topping. Stir popcorn as you pour the topping carefully over the popcorn.
Now chose if you want crunchy or sticky popcorn. If you want sticky popcorn, keep it the way it is or make it into popcorn balls. If you want crunchy put in the oven for 5-10 minutes at 300 degrees.  Stir and see if it is crunchy enough and cook longer if needed.
To wash use HOTTER water than Momma can stand. If you soak it first, it is much easier. 🙂
Try not snitch it all before sharing!
P.S. If you want to make this for Megan, she calls it Princess Pink Popcorn.
Yesterday we a snowball fight. It was over our garage roof. Then Mark got the ladder and climbed up on the roof and started throwing snowballs at me.
He said, “let’s make a snowman on the roof to be silly, and then one on the ground like it had been pushed off, like Calvin and Hobbes does.” So we did!
On Friday we drove fours hours when Daddy got home from work to get ready for my soccer tournament.
The first game was Saturday. It was freezing out! I saw lots of people but I thought it would be easy to find my team. It took “forever” to find them. There were “thousands” of people and “hundreds” of fields and we did not know exactly what field we were supposed to be on.
Once I found my team, we started warm up. The first game went good, but we were freezing on the bench. We won the first game 2-1. I was cold and ready to go for some hot chocolate. One of the girls had brought an RV and they invited us to have a tail gate party with them. We had some warm food and got warm.
Then we went back and jogged some and did some other exercises. The weather was slightly warmer. We were not freezing! It was another hard game but we won 4-3.
After the game we went back to our bed and breakfast. I took a shower to warm up. We took a walk and got some chocolates from a neat candy store. Then we had popcorn and watched a movie.
We knew that if my team won Sunday’s game we would go to the finals. Our coach said it was a “very good team and it was their home field so they knew every bump and blade of grass.” Taylor’s mom brought us honey because she heard that honey was good for pre games. It tasted good, but I don’t know if it helped our game.
It was warm out. The team was as tough as coach Dan said. It was the hardest game we had. Mark said it was the most exciting. We scored just before half time. We did not make any more goals for the whole game. My team won, 1-0!
Daddy treated us to elephant ears and corn dogs for lunch. Then we went back to the RV. Then we had our last game.
That was hard, but the one before was harder. We were tired of playing. One dad was teasing that we lost because Audrey’s coach came to watch the game. It probably was not true, but it was funny. We lost 3-5. Some of the team was sad because we lost, but I did not care because I had fun.
After the game we got a trophy because my team won second place in the Girls U12 division!
Coach Dan was a good coach. He let me play as often as the other girls even though I am not the best player. He often yelled “Good job, Andrea”. During the tournament, I was blocking the ball. It hit so hard that it made a goal for the other team. Coach Dan said that often happens that it hits hard and either way it would have been a goal. But he said that I was doing my job and it was okay. When I made my first “real” goal, he said “good job” and that I was on the left side but I hit the right corner of the goal and that is what he wants to see. He also wants to see the ball hit the back of the net in the air. I hope to have Coach Dan again.
The tournament was fun. It was hard. I hope to go to another tournament some day.

When the middle two had Science Slueths, Mommy and I went for a walk with Megan. Then we went to the swing set. Megan wanted to play on the tire swing. So I took pictures of Megan playing.
There was a new alpaca born yesterday. We went over to see it. The kittens were sitting and grooming themselves. I crawled up on the hay bale to pet the one and the other one posed for Momma.
Paul is the striped one. Paul thinks he is a dog, he follows you everywhere. He loves you scratching his head. He likes to sneak in and nibble the dog food. When we open the back door, he runs out.
There was a repair man at the house the other day. Whenever he came out, Paul snuck into the house. Mrs. Beer would find him somewhere and tell the man that he did not belong in the house because he was a BARN CAT. But Paul got into the house over and over and over again!
Holly likes being petted and likes people, but only when she wants it. Momma says she is a “real” cat. Holly is usually on the hay sitting in the sun because she is lazy!
We had our first first fall soccer game on Wednesday. Our coach was not there because she was sick.
It was the first time that I ever got to start playing at the beginning of the game! It was a hard game. The score was 0-5. I tried my best and I still had fun.
My next game is Sunday, the 15th of September at 1:30. It is at the NIBCO soccer field if you want to come watch.
This morning I went to a “Twelve Dancing Princess Convention” held at a nearby location. It was a relaxing morning where we sat around and talked. One of the girls wanted to bring her little sister, so we all enjoyed playing with the littlest princess.
This is a once in a lifetime event, so I was glad to be able to attend.
This weekend we went to the Notre Dame Women’s Soccer game. We got to welcome the ND team in with hand slaps.
Then my team got to play at half time. It was the first time I played 11 x 11. The field was small and there was lots of people on it, since we only played on half of the field.
They played a good game, but the one goal they made was declared “off sides” so it did not count. Notre Dame did good, but they lost by one point at the end.
I had fun! It was fun to watch older girls play soccer. I have a lot to learn!
